Position Description:

This position provides HIV pre and post-test counseling at the Criminal Justice Center located at 448 Second Avenue North, Nashville, TN 37201. MPHD is hiring for two shifts: Day – 8am to 4:30pm M-F; and Night: 4:30pm to 1am M-F.

Typical Duties
Provides educational information regarding STD/HIV in order to increase community awareness, knowledge, and prevention. Provides direct services in a clinic, non-clinical, correctional, and non-traditional setting. Conducts pre and post-test counseling services for patients taking an HIV test.
Counsels patients on HIV and STD prevention measures, test results, program services, and procedural guidelines.
Assist/provide oral swab screening via HIV OraQuick and assist/provide screening for gonorrhea and chlamydia.
Accurately and promptly documents services and observations in the client’s record.
Collect laboratory specimens as needed; attends training and in-service classes as appropriate. Gain support and cooperation of public officials, community groups and agencies relative to health information concerns.
Assists in the development, promotion and implementation of a variety of health information, STD / HIV screenings, and education programs.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Requirements High school diploma required.
Effective written and oral communications skills, group presentation skills and ability to operate audio-visual equipment. Must be able to work a regular schedule consistently.
Must be able to pass Davidson County Jail Background Check as condition of employment.

Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law. Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply, however at the present time MPHD is not sponsoring individuals through any of the US Government’s employment-based immigration programs.
Preferred Education, Skills and Abilities:
College degree.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Ability to perform venipuncture.
Ability to work with diverse populations and to work as member of interdisciplinary team.
