Position Description:

Serves as the Medicaid Reimbursement Specialist for the School Health Program, working closely with the School Health Program Manager and the MNPS office of Student Health Services, to facilitate Medicaid reimbursement for school-based, skilled nursing services.

Typical Duties:
Provides initial assessments, writes school orders based on medical home provider orders, and manages documentation (consents, provider orders, etc.) for school-aged children who have Medicaid Insurance.
Works closely with nurses and providers to support the coordination of services and proper implementation of nursing care and treatment plans.
Refers students back to their own primary care provider as needed.
Prepares reports from the documentation software for submission to the vendor for reimbursement.
Participates in student Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to help the student support team develop an appropriate student health plan.
Initiates necessary referral processes to appropriate programs and agencies within and outside MPHD.
Provides nursing staff basic technical support for computer software issues related to the program’s electronic medical record-keeping process.
Serves as a public health resource for school and community services. Provides input toward School Health policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and Master of Science degree in Nursing from a program accredited by a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization.
Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization.
Certificate of Fitness issued by the State of Tennessee.
Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the State of Tennessee.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply, however at the present time MPHD is not sponsoring individuals through any of the US Government’s employment-based immigration programs.
Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.
Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner strongly preferred.
Three (3) years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Bilingual (Spanish/English).
