Position Description:

Assists with pre-employment and periodic examinations on employees of the Metropolitan Government; maintains high degree of flexibility regarding patient services based upon this being a high volume operation and customer expectations; participates in professional development programs and self-development activities; consults with colleagues and supervisory staff as needed, and collaborates with other disciplines in patient care and health promotion activities; may be assigned to different clinic / work locations as needed; responds and reports to the directives of the Director of Health in case of emergency or disasters; and performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelorís degree from a state approved school of nursing; or Bachelorís degree in another discipline and a Masterís degree from a state approved school of nursing preferred.
Diploma or Associates Degree in nursing combined with a documented ability to competently perform all functions of this classification may be considered. All public health nurses are required to complete a department approved Certificate in Public Health as a condition of continued employment.

Valid class ďDĒ driverís license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
Skilled in phlebotomy and EKG services.
Experience in an outpatient clinic or office setting.
Experience in use of hearing, vision, and pulmonary screening equipment.
